Milk production increased in the Kirov region

In 2022, agricultural organizations of the region produced 752 thousand tons of milk - 2.4% more than in 2021

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kirov Region, as of January 25, 2023, the daily gross milk yield in the region amounted to 2,146.7 tons, which is 66.6 tons more than on the corresponding date in 2022. From one cow, on average, 23.7 kg of milk was received per day - 0.7 kg more than last year's level. The volume of milk sales as of the reporting date in the Kirov region amounted to 2,155.9 tons, exceeding the figure for 2022 by 61.5 tons.

The leader of the dairy industry in the region is the Kumensky district: 252.1 tons of milk were milked there per day and 257.0 tons were sold, an average of 28.4 kg was received from one cow. The second place in terms of milk yield and the third place in terms of milk sales is occupied by the Orichevsky district: 175.4 tons were received and 164.8 tons were sold; in third place in terms of milk yield and second in terms of sales, the Zuevsky district - 171.8 and 187.2 tons, respectively. The second place in terms of milk yield per cow is occupied by Kirov (26.8 kg), the third is Urzhumsky district (26.7 kg).

The main share of milk production in the Kirov region falls on agricultural organizations. According to Kirovstat, these farms received 752.0 thousand tons of milk in 2022, which is 2.4% more than in 2021. The milk productivity of cows in agricultural organizations for the analyzed period amounted to 8,177 kg, which is 1.7% higher than the level of the previous year.
