The production of cow's milk for direct consumption in Spain grows, until April 2022, almost 11% while that of cheese falls by 4.2%

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has just published the statistics, corresponding to April 2022, of the collection of cow's milk and the use of the same by the industries, highlighting that cheese production falls by 4.2% while which grows strongly, gains almost 11%, that of milk for direct consumption.

The milk collected by the industry, until April 2022, totals 2,498,200 tons, which represents a drop of 0.5% compared to the same date last year.

On the positive side, it is worth highlighting the 10.8% increase in milk for direct consumption, reaching 1,458,000 tons compared to 1,315,600 in the previous one. That of cream grew by 11.7%, going from 56,900 tons to the current 63,600. Finally, in this section, the production of yogurt is located, which, until April 2022, has increased by 2.3%, reaching 330,000 tons.

On the downside, cheese made with cow's milk falls 4.2%, going from 66,800 tons in the first four months of 2021 to 64,000 registered in the latest statistics published by the MAPA. Butter production falls by 30% from 14,400 tons to 10,100, while this decrease is 54% in the case of Skimmed Milk Powder, since it is reduced from the previous 4,700 tons to the current 2,200.
