Paraguayan soybean processing reached 1.8 million tons at the end of the third quarter

The lack of rain in the field as a result of the drought that occurred at the beginning of the previous agricultural season, caused the volume of soybean processing to the month of October to drop a significant difference, reaching 1,866,169 tons.

From the Paraguayan Chamber of Oilseed and Grain Processors (Cappro) it was reported that this figure represents a drop of 23% when compared to the same period in 2021. Likewise, it is equivalent to around 1 million tons less than the average of processing accumulated to the tenth month in the last three years.

With an industrialization of just 45,557 tons during this month, 2022 is consolidating as the worst year for the industry since 2012; always remembering that in 2013 a great leap was made in the capacity to process oilseeds in the country.

In this line, the estimates indicate that the little that remains of the year should be taken into account that most of the factories have already stopped and that the stock of raw material available is quite limited, considering that if we add the grinding and exports in natural state already represent about 97% of all harvested soybeans.

However, the report states that the milling of grains other than soybeans has grown significantly, surpassing what was achieved in all of 2021 in October, but it will not be able to compensate for the lost volume of our main raw material.
